Workplace discrimination through application questionaires
To: Your State Senate, The Governor and The President of the United States
Started by: Sean Crystal
Is there anything right about a computer judging the people that are apllying for a job. I think not. The best way to get an idea of the applicant is through a fact-face interview.
I recently filled out an application for Toys R US online, did the questionaire, and before the store opened the next day I recieved the following e-mail:
Dear Sean,
Thank you for your interest in the Sales Associate position. Unfortunately, we currently do not have an opening that matches your qualifications and experience.
If you experience a change in the future that you believe may improve your qualifications for this position, please feel free to re-apply at that time.
Once again, thank you for your interest in Toys R US.
Sincerely,
Please do not reply to this email. Replies will not be responded to or read. If you have any questions or comments, please contact the manager of the site where you applied for a position
I contacted the manger Karen at the store I applied for, and she verified to me that I was judged for the position by a computer through the questionaire process. This is pure discrimination, as someone who is more qualified, but doesn't answer the questions correctly would be denied employment.
If we are to help out the workforce, and lower unemployment we need to force workers to change these practices.
